The painter Giorgio de Chirico was one of early modernism's greatest heroes.
The founder of Metaphysical painting, his hauntingly empty scenes set
amidst Rome's modern, neo-classical monuments are still vividly resonant today
of the fascist's vainglorious vision of Rome.
This is his house and studio in central Rome, now open as a museum.
