Casa Menne, Panarea, Aeolian Islands, Sicily
I was asked to photograph this delightful house in 2013, on the Aeolian island of Panarea.
The architecture is by Paolo Tilche, who famously also designed, built and ran the achingly beautiful Raya Hotel on the same island.
Set overlooking the sea, the simple geometrical style is typical of the vernacular architecture of the Aeolian Islands, a small archipelago located off the coast of Sicily. Panarea is the most glamorous of all of these islands, and the houses are the most beautiful, as is the island itself. The interiors of this house feature 1970s futuristic furnishings by Vico Magistretti, and a selection of Balinese artifacts.
