A spectacular view over the rooftops of Marylebone, at dusk. The rich colours of the evanescent “blue hour” twilight in the summer are always so very evocative.
This time it is even more so. I shot this view from the elevated terrace of the house of my friends Sandra and Enrico, on the 27th May 2023, just a few days before moving out of Marylebone. This is the London neighbourhood where I have lived for over 35 years. It’ll therefore be the last view of Marylebone as a resident.
I am glad the sky was cloudless, and although there was some haze and humidity in the air, this gave a very pleasing softness to the distant buildings in the panorama, enhancing the effect of three dimensionality, of depth and distance.
