The City of London is home to a dense cluster of new buildings. Construction work on a seemingly endless array of gleaming steel and glass skyscrapers continues on The City and beyond inexorably. The skyline of London has changed dramatically this past decade, it has evolved now into an almost New Yorkesque curtain of buildings of all sorts of exciting shapes, sizes, styles and textures.
This in itself can be spectacular, as can be seen here, but perhaps it a shame that they are all so closely clustered together around a relatively small area.
Photographing them can still be immensely rewarding, and this picture – shot with one of my array of powerful telephoto lenses – shows. These buildings are all each quite extraordinary and often exquisite feats of design and engineering.
