This spectacular orange dawn I captured from the high vantage point of a tower block terrace in Marylebone, looking over the rooftops of Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury over to the skyscrapers of The City.
Canary Wharf can be seen in the distance. In the foreground from left to right can be seen the Barbican apartment buildings, London University’s Senate House, the curved dome of the British Museum, and some of the commercial buildings on Tottenham Court Road.
On the memorable morning in early 2016 when I shot this panorama, just before sunrise, the conditions were absolutely magnificent. The air was perfectly still, the sky clear and with minimal pollution or haze in the air, rendering the colours especially luminous.
