This ultra high resolution panoramic image of London is from what was one of my favourite viewpoints, from Bermondsey east of Tower Bridge. The view looking back over the River Thames westwards towards the setting sun was just wonderful, and perfectly balanced, epitomising London. It includes on left to right the Shard looming above Shad Thames and Butler’s Wharf, Tower Bridge resplendent in the middle of the composition, and at right the tall structures of The City with St Katherine’s Dock and the shorefront apartments of Wapping.

Sadly this view is no more because of the construction of a huge platform on the left of the image, for Tideway’s massive replacement project of London’s super sewer running beneath the Thames. This now means that this view is now obscured, alas!. This panoramic image was captured in June 2016, on a warm and beautiful, clear summer’s day with lovely wispy cloud formations punctuating the sky.  The beautiful colours of the last rays of light adds to the serenity of this unique view, now lost for ever.
