Blackfriars Bridge St Pauls and The City

This is an ultra high resolution panoramic photograph of Blackfriars Bridge, St Paul’s and The City. I captured this image with the clear air of a cool October evening. I had planned it for some time, and patiently waited for a day with clear air and few clouds. Having set up my tripod and camera on a terrace high up across the river, and was ready just at the magical moment when the rich evanescent blue of the sky is perfectly in balance with the warm yellow glow of the street lights and the illuminations of the buildings, with the additional purple and red tones of Blackfriars Bridge.

This is one of my favourite views of London, it has an interesting mix of historical and contemporary buildings, and the geometry of the composition with the majestic dome of St Paul’s cathedral acting as a central fulcrum is in perfect harmony. The full moon rising was an added bonus!

This panorama is a digital composite image, created by stitching together many single photographs to create a highly detailed wide view.

It has remained one of my favourite and all time best selling panoramic images since I took it back in 2012. The skyline of The City might have changed since then, but the appeal of the this enduringly iconic and almost mystical view, remains. The inner beauty of London with its bridges, river and cathedral marches on, untroubled by time.
