Kings Cross Station Panorama

This photograph captures Kings’s Cross Station Panorama, London. This railway station was first opened in 1853, designed by Lewis Cubitt of the famous Cubitt family of master architects and builders. It is one of London’s main railway hubs. The arched front elevation reflects the two arches beyond enclosing the train platforms. Also here is a major underground station, the entrance to which is visible in the foreground. I captured this image in mid-November 2024.

Although many of my London panoramic views are of skylines, this view of King’s Cross is a more urban view. It was fun capturing people, traffic, a major transport hub, and commuters going about their daily business.

This is a high resolution panorama, created by capturing a series of long exposure vertical images, from left to right, blended together in photoshop.  Each image was around 2 seconds, which blurred the people walking and created the light trails from the passing cars. This blurring can be seen in the detail views. As each lateral sweep of images took over half a minute to complete, this also meant very careful timing to avoiding capturing the cars and taxis whilst stopped at the red light in the foreground, or on the Euston Road at right. I used a 45mm tilt shift lens, shifted up slightly, for this panorama.
