Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Panorama

This panoramic nightscape over the River Thames is a view of London that I had naturally captured before. The framing of the elements from this position, with all of the recent new buildings, and the pink lights on the bridge against the distant gleaming colours of the residential skyscrapers of Vauxhall and St George’s Wharf, is so irresistible against the clear, inky black sky.

The multi shot, half minute exposures that I took and which were later stitched together digitally to make the panorama allowed for the ultra high resolution and immense detail of this nightscape. This long exposure ensured that the ebbing waters of the River Thames were smooth, allowing for the reflections of colourful lights to stretch out along its shimmering surface.

This cluster of residential skyscrapers is relatively new in London, and has created a thriving community along the south side of the river from Lambeth Bridge towards Vauxhall Bridge, including the space age designs and the tall towers of St George’s Wharf buildings, and just beyond the Nine Elms neighbourhood which includes the US Embassy, just out of sight here.

The architecture of London will never cease to fascinate me. In the past 20 years there has been an incredible burst of energy in the capital and so many of these tall buildings have gone up. This panorama of Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall is available in sizes up to 360cm across, either as a single panel or as a triptych. Please don’t hesitate to enquire for details of oversized prints.
