Parliament Hill Running Track and London Skyline Panorama

I had an idea to capture the skyline of London from the wonderful viewpoint of Parliament Hill, over the running track and sports ground at the bottom of the hill, as it was illuminated in the evening.

In mid-April 2023, I found a day of great clarity. It had been raining, it had been very windy, but by evening the conditions settled and the city was bathed in a sharp, cold but clear, golden light. The perfect conditions for my brand of ultra high resolution photography, with the evening sky free of haze, dust or humidity. I got to my position in good time, and it was just a question of waiting for the crucial right time, for the floodlights to be just brighter than the ambient light of the evening and the lights of the distant buildings. This I have discovered is key to a final result of sparkling intensity and contrasts, and captivating richness of tone.

As I wanted this image to be of exceptional clarity, I shot 3 rows of 12 shots, in order to create a panorama of London of exceptional, breathtaking detail. I really think my panoramic views of London come to life with scenes like this.
