Panoramic View of The City and Canary Wharf at Sunset

This panoramic photograph of London captures The City and Canary Wharf after then sun had set. I captured it from a viewpoint deep in the south east of London. The evening glow in the sky contrasts sharply with the impressive array of gleaming steel and glass skyscrapers spanning from The City eastwards towards Canary Wharf. At the far left corner can be seen the Baroque dome of St Paul’s, with the arch of Wembley Stadium. At right are the tall skyscrapers of Canary Wharf.

The architecture of London will never cease to fascinate me. In the past 20 years there has been an incredible burst of energy in the capital and so many of these tall buildings have gone up. From this angle, the line of skyscrapers of The City and Canary Wharf appears like a continuous curtain of modernity! I reality there is quite a distance between the two clusters, but the foreshortening effect of the telephoto lens brings them together.
