Captured with a powerful telephoto lens, this golden sunset over London is a stunning sight to behold. I shot this lovely scene towards the end of April 2021, after almost an entire a month of dry weather, and the dust that had accumulated in the atmosphere, along with the haze of distance, created this fabulously rich, golden glow around the sun.
I love the layered structure of this scene, each section becoming increasingly hazy as the eye moves further and further into the distance, towards the iconic structures of London – from the left the London Eye, the Shard, Tower Bridge, the BT Tower, St Paul’s and the City skyscrapers.
The beautiful colours of the setting sun makes to the drama of this evocative view.
