Tranquillity, serenity, calmness, silence, stillness, nature, light, sea, sky, history, time, continuity.

In the smaller islands of the Mediterranean, those which are not built up, whose landscapes and topography haven’t been changed much by man, where nature still reigns supreme, I am always humbled by the knowledge that what I am gazing at and capturing with my camera is pretty much identical to what the Bronze Age seafarers of the earliest civilisations of these islands looked at.

They looked out at these same mesmeric tones, the same rocky islands, the same sunrises, the same sky. I wonder if they ever thought that 3,500 years later we would be still marvelling at these same sights.

This is above all what I strive to achieve in my work – the timelessness of the world, of nature, of light.
