Stromboli and Basiluzzo stand like iconic forms on the horizon, at dawn silhouetted against the morning light. To those who live on Panarea or who know this island well, these islands, and their harmonious geometrical forms have attained an almost mystical status.
Every day that I wake up to see the first light I could happily photograph them, every day I would see different colours in the sky, different atmospheric tonalities, different moods, evoking different images. But I have to be selective, so I choose the images that say something to me.
This dawn, captured in early June, before the summer boats fill the sea, was one such day. The iconic statue-like islands come to life like sacred mountains for ancient civilisations; these islands have seen, and have been inhabited by, ancient seafaring peoples from the distant times of the earliest recorded history.
Immerse yourself in the immense detail and rich tones of Adam’s unique collection of panoramic views of Panarea, captured over the past 20 years.
This image is in a limited edition of 100.
