July 27th 2022. The summer this year has been very still, with calm, stable weather and very still sea. I’ve been relaxing on holiday with the family so I haven’t managed to make too many dawn wake up calls, but today I was up and set up a timelapse as well as this panoramic view, which I call Iditella Panorama Sunrise
I wanted to get some of the landscape as well as the myriads of moored boats in the scene, so I chose a lower viewpoint, rather than walking up the hill as I normally do. The day was a little happy, but the orange and purple tones in the sky mixed in well with the warm tones of the sun’s shimmering reflections off the water’s surface.
This high resolution image of Iditella Panorama Sunrise was captured with a 50mm lens, which is normally my “wide” limit so my panoramas. I normally try to use a longer focal length, but as I was near to the cluster of houses in the foreground, so I needed to resort to this lens. Albeit about as sharp as any lens ever made, the Nikon Z 50mm lens does introduce some geometrical distortions when shooting scenes like this. It therefore took some editing and post production to make this panorama just as I wanted it!
This scene encapsulates the hamlet of Iditella as the height of the summer season approaches, with the sea replete with boats and all of the houses occupied with chairs and tables etc visible on terraces.
