Terrace and Dattilo
This viewpoint is close to my house in Panarea, so I walk past it all the time when I am there. This day, on the first week of June, the light was particularly clear after a thunderstorm which had in fact delayed my arrival to Panarea the day before. As I saw this view, everything just fell into place: the clear sky, the angle of the sun on the bougainvillea, the streaks of shadow on the column of the terrace with the sunlight filtering through the bamboo slats, and the steely tone of the islet of Dattilo as the first beams of sun raked across its craggy face.
I carefully composed the image so as to allow a clear pathway through the image at lower left, something I like to do, it gives me that feeling of uninterrupted infinity. Also the contrasting colour of the house with the jar on the roof adds that little bit of interest
As soon as I saw this in my viewfinder I knew I’d caught the moment. I then just stood there for a while longer, just breathing in the sheer beauty of the scene. Simplicity often yields the best results. Just light, colour and nature mingling with architecture, my favourite subjects.
Lose yourself in the Mediterranean and the very essence of the Aeolian Islands with Adam’s sunny and unique collection of the pristinely beautiful Panarea
