A panoramic view of one of the most beautiful Victorian-era bridges ever built
Citizens of Edinburgh and beyond are immensely proud of the Forth Bridge. It is widely regarded as a symbol not only of Edinburgh but of Scotland itself, and recently voted as Scotland’s greatest manmade structure. It is also a Unesco World Heritage site.
This masterpieces of 19th century engineering was completed in 1890 and connects the towns of North and South Queensferry across the Firth of Forth, and is part of the East Coast railway line. It is sometimes referred to as the Forth Rail Bridge, to differentiate it from the Forth Road Bridge, but its official name is just the Forth Bridge.
I captured this Forth Rail panorama from the north side, looking towards Edinburgh in the distance; I like this view with the inclusion of a section of shoreline and a cluster of the old stone buildings of North Queensferry.
This is a multi shot panorama, made by blending together digitally 12 separate, high resolution images to create a sweeping panoramic view of immense detail.
