This remote location on the west coast of Scotland I discovered after teaching a photography course for some private clients in Oban. I took an extra couple of days to further explore the area, which I hadn’t done for many years, despite being a proud Scot. I had just the most wonderful and exhilarating time exploring roads leading to nowhere at the ends of peninsulas and seeking out unspoilt coastline scenes and seascapes to capture with my camera.
This area caught my eye because of the rugged coastline of hard granite rocks, smoothed out by the relentless beating of the sea on them. The warm evening colours in the background hillside I think add that sparkle to stitch together the sea and the sky, bringing the image to life. Using a long exposure on this view smoothed out the sea into a gentle creamy quiet foam, contrasting with the stormy sky above.
Views of the coastlines, beaches, seas and oceans.
