This image of a pile of lemons on a plate with Stromboli on the horizon forms part of my series of Aeolian Still Lifes, all shot on the island of Panarea. They are in essence images which highlight the luscious colours, the organic textures, along with the sharp light and contrasts of this wonderful location.

The perfectly symmetrical shape of Stromboli on the horizon, with the sky with the streaky clouds adding interest and dynamism to the otherwise pure, unadulterated blue of the Mediterranean sky.

This image was captured on a Hasselblad 500C/M camera, with a superlative Zeiss Sonnar lens; the camera upon which those taken on the Apollo space missions for those iconic Moon images were based. It houses a square format 6 x 6cm film, over 4 times larger than normal film size, therefore giving the resulting images incredible quality of fine detail and richness of colour.
